Exercise Programs for our Residents
Many health benefits come from fitness and exercise, especially for seniors and those with mental health issues. Regular fitness work helps promote overall health: physically, emotionally and mentally. Regular fitness work also enables one to maintain independence and live with comfort in their physical abilities.
Avamere Rehab of Newport works with residents in two ways: We provide short-term, more focused rehabilitation service to heal and restore one's physical strength and flexibility, and we offer individually crafted fitness programs for longer term residents to help keep them vibrant and active.
More emphasis is placed on fitness activities, as our residents age. Some of these exercises include cardiovascular activity such as walking, chair exercises for the elderly and balance exercises for elderly, all designed to enable our residents to move freely and confidently. It strengthens muscle tone and improves endurance without putting too much strain on the body.
